Position Overview

This position is responsible for assisting the Infrastructure team in daily activities (Networking, Security Patching, Internal/Global Project implementation, Server Administration as well as all aspects of Windows and Active Directory Administration).  This role is responsible for building a robust and stable operating environment as well as ensuring that when servers, network equipment and other technologies malfunction, these issues are resolved.  

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Customer Service:  Resolve end user issues/requests in a timely manner; diffuse stressful customer situations and assume a commanding role in the escalation and resolution of these issues
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve user issues (hardware, software, access, security, business applications, etc.)

Specific Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish self as point person in second level escalations to assist the Helpdesk team
  • Discuss, diagnose, and correct hardware/software/networking problems with end users
  • Perform needs analysis in conjunction with laboratory or office personnel with respect to hardware and software
  • Support a wide range of technologies including PCs, laptops, servers, printers, network equipment, telephone system, cellular, copiers, wireless, and A/V equipment
  • Support Windows server administrative features such as Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Support O365 & Azure technologies
  • Support asset management (Windows Patching, Vulnerability Patching) with System Center Configuration Manager & DDI Vulnerability scanner

Qualifications

  • Associate degree with 4 years of IT experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS or Computer Science with 2 years of IT experience
  • Experience in a chemical/pharmaceutical laboratory setting preferred
  • Experience installing and maintaining personal computer hardware and software
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (Desktop & Server); Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Exchange; Microsoft Windows Server, Windows Desktop OS’s; Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Ability to work on projects with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility required to work after business hours if needed—ability to have conference calls with other business segments outside of the US operating hours (typically once or twice a week)

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires the capability to occasionally lift items in excess of 50 pounds
