Position Overview:
The Senior Technical Accountant will have responsibility for the Company’s technical accounting requirements and related monthly financial close processes and balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls framework development and ongoing testing procedures, all US federal, state, and local statutory financial reporting requirements, and tax compliance.  In addition, the Senior Technical Accountant will be expected to assist with finance-related process improvement and automation initiatives and evaluate and recommend changes to processes / systems / setup.
 
 
Key Responsibility Areas 
  • Financial Accountability:  Completes working papers within technical accounting process in a timely manner to ensure proper accounting, accruals, and reconciliations. 
  • Financial Reporting:  Assists with all US federal, state, and local statutory financial reporting packages.
 
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Completes working papers within technical accounting process and related monthly close responsibilities and reconciliations.  
  • Responsibility for accounting for M&A activity, intangible assets, earnout and profit share arrangements, leasing arrangements, discontinued operations and equity.
  • Interpret new accounting pronouncements and assess whether they are applicable to the Company.  Document conclusions in a technical memo.
  • Preparation of technical accounting memos for significant transactions.
  • Collaborate with outsourced partner within tax-related workstreams.
  • Reviews systems and processes utilized for external financial reporting and ensures proper accounting/recording/reporting of all related transactions. 
  • Assist in technical accounting process automation initiatives.
  • Supports the preparation and analysis of the budgets / forecasts and assisting in the preparation of the consolidated budget / forecast presentations as requested by the Financial Planning and Analysis team. 
  • Supports other finance projects as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA preferred
  • Working understanding of US GAAP / IFRS
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • SEC reporting experience preferred
  • SOX 404 implementation experience
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience with management reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting
  • Strong technical qualifications, including process automation experience
  • Experience integrating data from multiple data sources to support analytics / power BI, Excel, and other analytical tools
  • Strong modeling skills and the ability to create professional presentations / summarize / gather insights from data
  • Experience with Tier I or Tier II ERP tools
