As a Loss Prevention Investigator 1, you’ll help protect Maverik’s people and assets by investigating reported or suspected theft, fraud, policy violations, and other incidents. You’ll conduct interviews, document findings, identify areas of risk, and work with internal partners and law enforcement when needed. You’ll also help identify preventative measures that reduce loss and strengthen security practices across the organization. Why this role matters
This role plays an important part in reducing company loss and protecting Maverik’s assets by identifying risks, investigating incidents, and helping prevent future theft and exposure. Your work helps ensure incidents are handled thoroughly while supporting compliance with company policies and security procedures.
Location/Schedule
This role is based at our Salt Lake City Headquarters and follows a hybrid schedule with four days in-office and one remote day each week.
What You’ll do in this Role
- Investigate reported or suspected loss as directed, documenting all findings in an organized manner
- Support departmental goals of reduction in company shrink and exposure
- Identify, document, and interview perpetrators of theft and dishonest, illegal, or harmful activities
- Identify risk and exposure to loss and provide corrective measures by developing systems, processes, and competencies to prevent theft, risk, and exposure
- Prepare and process proper documentation to successfully terminate, acquire restitution from, and/or prosecute employees who engage in dishonest, illegal, or harmful activities
- Collaborate effectively with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies for the benefit of the company
- Maintain competency in the use of all security equipment
- Identify and report failures to follow company policies and procedures to the appropriate department

You’ll be a great fit for this adventure if you have:
- 2+ years of loss prevention investigation experience and/or training.
Bonus points if you also bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Legal Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, or Risk Management preferred; an associate degree will also be considered.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range:$52,000-$60,000/year + DOE and Bonus Opportunities
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Maverik considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
