What we offer

Reporting to the Vice President, Accounting & Sustainability and based out of our downtown Toronto office, the Senior Manager is a hands-on role involving collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders including FP&A, Treasury and Tax, and JV reporting teams and will appeal to a strong system-oriented, and technical accounting professional.  The position is an exciting opportunity for a finance leader that excels in business process and controls development, as well as technical and complex accounting within dynamic and evolving environments.

 

What you’ll do

  • Manage the accurate and timely preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and note disclosures in accordance with ASPE, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Define and maintain reporting structures within the company’s enterprise-wide system to support Company’s external and internal reporting, legal entity reporting and MD&A requirements.
  • Main point of contact for external auditors, supporting their needs as required during the process, and coordination of efforts across our businesses.
  • Advise on accounting and system impacts of legal entity restructuring, new operations or complex accounting issues, and
  • Develop and maintain the Company’s consolidation processes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the month-end close of MAM entities and accounting strategy for emerging operations and investments
  • Bottom up review of all accounting operations and processes and implementation of recommendations to improve efficiency and governance
  • Responsible for oversight on the bank compliance reporting in conjunction with the Treasury group.
  • Responsible for assisting on technical accounting matters and the implementation of policy change divisionally and company-wide.
  • Train and mentor both corporate and divisional finance teams in the implementation of new finance policies and any onboarding training as needed.
  • Drive change and improvements in process and documentation as required.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • University Degree, with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA Designation
  • 7+ years of experience with increasing responsibility, in Finance/Accounting/Consolidations functions and teams
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Proven experience driving the establishment of processes and documentation
  • Experience with:
    • Preparation of Financial Statements
    • Monthly close and reconciliation
    • Consolidations including joint venture, investment, and subsidiary accounting
    • Experience with a consolidation tool, preferably Onestream or HFM
    • Legal entity structures with multiple levels of subsidiaries and ownership interests
  • Deadline-oriented with strong learning agility and ability to manage competing demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Bonus points

  • Experience with JD Edwards or a comparable cross-industry ERP system
