What we offer

The Mattamy Homes Canada (MHC) finance team’s vision to be the best homebuilding and real estate development finance team in North America and the Analyst, Business Analytics will be an integral member on this journey. This an exciting, high visibility role responsible for providing the MHC corporate management team with quantitative and qualitative decision support including proactive financial analysis of internal operational data as well as external industry benchmarking. In partnership with the VP, FP&A, and the Canadian Divisional Finance teams the Analyst, Business Analytics will accurately report on, analyze, and report on Canada’s performance from a variety of operational and financial lenses. This role is ideally suited to those with an aptitude for building dynamic presentations that distill large datasets into clear and concise presentations and reports. In addition, this opportunity requires a strategic thinking self-starter, who is extremely proficient in Excel and equally capable at presenting and communicating to all levels of the organization.

 

What you’ll do

  • Complete regular/recurring reporting on and analysis of operational and financial results, including weekly and month operational flash reporting, monthly external industry data aggregation, and other ad hoc reporting as assigned.
  • Develop reporting that enhances understanding of drivers and underlying trends in the business, for a focus on operational areas including construction, purchasing, sales, and warranty.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reporting and variance analysis with commentary on G&A, against forecast and budget.
  • Ownership of the MHC suite of current and future financial and operational reporting tools. Continuously seek to improve the quality and efficiency of MHC reporting, including enhancing financial models & reports and streamlining analysis & processes.
  • Prepare, analyze and distribute reports and presentations to the Canadian Executive management team and the Board of Directors. Continuously seek to improve the quality and efficiency of these reports.
  • Enhance and/or overhaul existing reporting to introduce more user-friendly slicers, drill downs, and visualizations.
  • In collaboration with the VP, Finance and Manager, Business Analytics, develop hypotheses on drivers of key business trends, and develop reporting that confirms, enhances understanding of, or routinely reports back on these hypotheses.
  • In collaboration with the VP, Finance and Manager, Business Analytics, foster strong working relationships across the divisional businesses, and work proactively to identify opportunities for finance to act as a strategic business partner.
  • In collaboration with the VP, Finance and Manager, Business Analytics, manage intake queue and prioritize reporting requests against business needs.
  • Provide support and/or lead ad hoc projects as necessary.

 

What you bring

  • University Degree, with a focus in Finance or Accounting
  • Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations and problem-solve.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Hands on, detail oriented with ability to think strategically
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity
  • Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office applications; ability to quickly learn and demonstrate functional competence with financial systems

 

Bonus points

  • Completed or in progress Finance or Accounting designation (e.g. CPA, CFA)
  • Experience with JDE, ReportsNow, BuildPro, and Procore
  • Experience with PowerBI
  • Experience with financial planning and forecasting tools such as Hyperion
