What we offer

The Design Consultant assist homeowners with interior selections including changes, finishes, electrical, plumbing and stairs, while providing an exceptional customer experience. 

 

*Please note that this role is a combination of base salary and commissions based on sales targets.

 

What you’ll do

  • Schedule appointments with homeowners using our online scheduling tools
  • Meet and/or exceed performance targets in files completed, sales revenue and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to conduct effective in-person and virtual appointments
  • Confirm and prepare information including floor plans, kitchen 3Ds, agreement of purchase and sale and price charts in the customer file and make available to homeowner at their appointment
  • Review sittings, floor plans and included features and optional choices with homeowners
  • Communicate features, advantages and benefits associated with various options and identify opportunities to sell options through effective questioning and listening skills
  • Communicate/verify options and pricing with Contracts Department (when necessary)
  • Prepare all final documentation including work orders, colour charts, waivers, amendments and final sketches. Ensure paperwork is accurate, clear and distribute digitally in a timely manner.
  • Review structural options ordered and follow up with Sales & Marketing Department as required
  • Attend Design Consultant meetings and Design Studio general meetings to stay current on product knowledge and Design Studio policies; including supplier training and site visits
  • Respond to any concerns or questions that arise from homeowner, Design Coordinators & Management, construction site or customer service and provide quick responses and effective solutions.
  • Complete all touch points with homeowners (video messaging, post cards, closing calls, reminder calls/emails)
  • Participate in site visits including frame walks/Pre-Delivery Inspections
  • Attend homeowner events such as Design Studio Orientations and Mattamy U

 

What you bring

  • Post-Secondary Education in Interior Design and/or Architectural Technology
  • Previous experience with residential design elements
  • Superior customer service (CS) background with prior experience in a customer service or retail role is required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret floorplans or architectural drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize strong selling skills to achieve optimal sales results while balancing customer requirements (budget, taste, etc.).
  • Ability to articulate and present design options and selections in an engaging and informative manner.
  • Understanding of colour and line design and knowledge of current interior design trends.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a strong emphasis on meeting deadlines.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written; especially good listening skills are critical for this role
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.  Collaborative approach working with internal departments.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Flexibility to work 1 Saturday per month.

 

Bonus points

  • Previous sales experience.
  • Bi-lingual in any additional languages.
  • Experience using JD Edwards, Calendly, DocuSign.
