What we offer

The Manager, Architectural Product Development is responsible for overseeing the coordination of design across multiple disciplines, while facilitating and managing project specific research. This role will also develop manufacturing standards for wall and floor panels and ensure the design outputs are coordinated and align both Mattamy Design Standards, as well as panelization and manufacturing standards. Additionally, this role will include project management, research, attention to detail, and development of standards.

 

What you’ll do

  • Create product development workplans, including scopes of work, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Ability to understand and review design drawings across multiple disciplines.
  • Identify design issues and clashes.
  • Oversee project timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring that key milestones are met.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that designs are coordinated and meet all specifications.
  • In conjunction with Information Technology, manage implementation of 3D drawing software (i.e. BIM) to support manufacturing outputs.
  • Ability to monitor, learn, and work in a 3D drawing platform to help inform and develop the design coordination process between architecture and manufacturing.
  • Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards in design output.
  • Ensure detailed records of design processes, decisions, and changes are maintained for future reference and compliance.
  • Address any design-related issues that arise during the manufacturing and construction processes.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, materials, and best practices to inform design decisions and ensure competitive advantage.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and manage design work by consultants and outsourced designers as appropriate.
  • Manage team morale, ensuring that the project team is working cohesively.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in design management/project management within the construction industry with at least 3 years of experience with directly managing design consultants
  • Proven work experience as a manager in the design field or a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of design software (i.e. Revit, CAD, Bluebeam)
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate consultants and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, including project management, scheduling, report writing, and presentation production
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients
