What we offer
We are seeking a Manager, Finance to join our team and provide financial leadership to the GTA Land Development business. This role is a key business partner to our GTA Land Development team; helping shape investment decisions, drive performance, and support the business’s long-term growth.
You’ll be at the center of how we plan and build communities - bringing financial insight to complex, high-value decisions in a dynamic, evolving environment. The role blends strong core finance capability with strategic thinking, including understanding how financial performance, cash flow, and the balance sheet support land investment decisions.
What you’ll do
Project Business Review Process Ownership
- Manage the quarterly Project Business Review (PBR) process, including planning, scoping, and communication with the Land team
- Advocate for continuous improvement of and increased precision on project budgets
- Consolidate findings for all reviewed projects and provide commentary to senior leadership
Land Development Technology & Data Quality Advocate
- Key member of the Land Development IT Committee
- Assess areas of improvement for OneStream – both from the Land Development team perspective (ease and accuracy of inputs) and the Land Finance team perspective (reporting and outputs)
- Lead the charge to ensure consistency of product types and lot counts between systems
- Become subject matter expert for PowerBI reporting
Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Land Development team and broader GTA leaders
- Constructively challenge assumptions on costs, forecasts, and investment decisions
- Provide forward-looking insights that shape planning and strategy
Annual Budgeting and Forecasting Support
- Assist with the budgeting & forecasting process for Land Development
- Ensure accuracy of project budgets to feed into the inventory and cash flow model
- Analyze the consolidated view of the Land budgets and cash flows for reasonableness and create reporting and the story for senior management
- Ownership of the Land Orderbook including tracking updates throughout the year
- Manage the tracking of acquisitions & related cash flows
Financial Modelling
- Build and enhance community-level financial models and P&Ls to support the Land Development operating model
- Manage the process of obtaining relevant inputs from Homebuilding, Sales & Marketing, and Land
- Support forecasting, scenario analysis, and long-range planning
- Ensure financial insights meaningfully inform business performance and decisions
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Finance team members
- Set clear expectations, drive accountability, and build bench strength
- Foster and support onboarding and development to elevate overall team capability
What you bring
- University degree in Finance or Accounting with CPA designation (or equivalent) required
- Must have 5+ years of progressive experience across reporting, Operations Finance, FP&A, and business partnering
- 2-4 years of leadership experience, including coaching, developing and building teams
- Demonstrably strong background in financial reporting, modelling, and supporting senior stakeholders is required
- Confident business partner who can influence and challenge constructively
- Solid foundation in accounting and financial fundamentals with the ability to translate into business insights
- Experience with balance sheet and cash flow management
- Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., OneStream, Hyperion, JD Edwards) and advanced Excel a must
- Demonstrated interest in leveraging systems and data to improve reporting and insights
- Experience in Real Estate or Construction considered an asset
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside of this range, and we encourage all interested applicants to apply.
You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program, which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
