Description

Martin Marietta is seeking safety-conscious candidates to join the fleet! Operators drive a tractor-trailer (tanker) rig and are responsible for the safe and efficient movement of hot liquid asphalt cement (AC). This is a union position and membership in the Minnesota Teamsters Local 120 is required.

Essential Functions

  • Pickup AC from refineries or Asphalt Terminal and deliver to Asphalt Plants around the Twin Cities Metro area
  • Operate DOT regulated vehicles within all State and Federal safety regulations as well as Company safety policy

Work Environment

This position reports to our St. Paul Asphalt Terminal and operates 15% of the time on location, and 85% of the time driving.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work. A typical work week is 40-60 hours.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Class “A” CDL with Tank endorsement and excellent driving record
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
  • Familiarity with the seven-county Twin Cities Metro highway system
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 90 days of employment
