Fuel and Lube Technician

Position Summary 

This position is responsible for checking fluid levels (fuel, grease, and oil) and performing preventative maintenance (lubrication, oil changes, oil/air filters, and oil samples) on all heavy equipment used on construction projects. The oiler must also safely operate a lube/grease truck to dispense lubricants to construction equipment. Must be able to take direction and accurately log daily activities, such as oil changes, samples, fuel usage, etc. 


  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Experience servicing various types of heavy construction equipment.
  • Responsible for fueling all equipment on assigned locations.
  • Service and lube all equipment as necessary.
  • Servicing a wide variety of heavy construction equipment including pavers, rollers, loaders, and other equipment
  • Checking and maintaining proper fluid levels for various compartments including engine, hydraulics, transmission, etc.
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventories of fuel, oil, filters and other supplies
  • Checking and maintaining proper fluid levels for various compartments including engine, hydraulics, transmission, etc.
  • Performs visual inspections on equipment and provide written report of conditions and deficiencies
  • Completes all paperwork as necessary, including but not limited to work orders, parts requests, time cards, logs, pre-trip/post-trip inspections, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
  • Hands on experience in truck and equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Perform well in a “TEAM” environment
  • Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and weekends
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Valid CDL (A) license and clean driving record
  • Class A CDL w/Tanker, Hazmat endorsements required.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Minimum Education and Experience

  • 3-4 years of oiler/lube technician experience. 
  • Experience with heavy equipment desired.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 

Physical Requirements & Conditions

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
