JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Area Production Manager, the Plant Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of a surface limestone operation, capable of producing 12M TPY, located in Bridgeport, TX. Lead and manage all safety efforts at the plant as well as site planning, mine development, quality control and maintenance functions. Additional responsibilities include asset protection, financial evaluation, budgeting and cost control, environmental, personnel and community relations duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for meeting safety standards, production requirements, maintaining quality control and coordination of inventory and product mix levels.
- Responsible for leading the safety, health, environmental programs, guidelines and policies
- Lead and develop salary and hourly workforce to create teamwork and drive a safe and productive environment
- Responsible for the strategic development of cost goals, managing production and quality goals and updated forecasts
- Purchases or directs the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with Company Controllers and Purchasing policies
- Responsible for the planning and scheduling of plant activities to include schedule, production and training activities
- Coordinates with others to develop all aspects associated with the Mining Plan and supports constant evaluation and review of mining and process functions, identifying and implementing improvements for efficient material handling, resource recovery, and site reclamation
- Works toward general improvement of plant appearance and working conditions through identified reclamation, housekeeping and workplace projects leading to a more positive business environment to be recognized in the communities in which business is conducted
- Ensure compliance with Company, Local, State and Federal rules and regulations
- Implements and reviews ongoing contracts, purchase orders, appropriations and expenditures requests and initiates Requisitions for goods and services as needed
- Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (preferably Mining or Civil) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of plant management experience, preferably in the mining industry
- Working knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulations and possess a strong personal commitment to safety
- Solid understanding of aggregate processing and equipment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Understands and can effectively manage assets, (i.e. plant property and equipment, budgets and personnel) to achieve the return expectations of the Company
- Understands basic financial reports
- Ability to work with others to develop sales forecasts, operating budgets, capital budgets and other financial planning needed to operate the business profitably
- Computer / PC literate; MS Office/
- Ability to work with governmental representatives in a positive/productive manner
- Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of personnel
- Ability to read/ write/ speak in English and perform basic math functions
- Ability to resolve conflicts effectively must be energetic and innovative
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to drive up to 8 hours per day and travel by other means, overnight at times.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
- Ability to walk up to 200 yards over rough, uneven, or cluttered terrain, lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be available to walk, crawl, kneel and climb ladders/stairs to inspect facilities and to observe/supervise work activities.
