Driller
Description
- Safely and efficiently operate track-mounted Kelly Bar rotary drills or similar equipment using water mediums for flush.
- Execute precision drilling based on specific blast patterns and layouts provided by the engineering or blasting team.
- Operate auxiliary equipment as needed, including loaders, haul trucks, and excavators, to support site operations.
- Perform routine daily and monthly inspections of the drill and associated pump systems.
- Conduct field maintenance such as greasing, replacing drill bits, and monitoring fluid levels.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate drill logs, recording hole depth, drilling time, and geological anomalies encountered.
- Assist the blasting crew with the loading and "stemming" (filling) of blast patterns with aggregate or specialized materials.
- Prepare the drilling area to ensure a stable and safe surface for the rig and personnel.
- Accurately maintain drill logs, recording hole depths, geological changes, and material usage.
- Champion Martin Marietta’s "Guardian Angel" safety culture, ensuring a zero-harm work environment.
- Participate in site safety inspections and plant safety programs.
- Follow all federal MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) rules and company-specific safety protocols.
- High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
- 3 years of experience in heavy equipment operation is preferred; specific experience with Kelly Bar or electric-powered drills is a significant plus.

- Wear standard safety gear at all times, including a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
