Position Summary 

This position involves various manual tasks including, but not limited to, the following: shoveling; sweeping; lifting, pushing, and pulling various objects, and raking. Willingness to learn to operate various equipment, such as a skid steer, backhoe, pavers, rollers, etc. 

Responsibilities 

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work in preparing surfaces for paving
  • Shovels around plant, conveyors and yard
  • Unload Asphalt Cement into tanks
  • Ensure the yard is kept clean and safe
  • Assist plant crew with maintenance on the plant

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
  • Perform well in a “TEAM” environment
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Willing to work hours that are associated with the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Minimum Education and Experience 

  • Previous construction industry experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred.

Physical Requirements & Conditions 

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noise
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling the material

Salary Posting:

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $21.25-$25, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
