Environmental Specialist (Dust Control / Mechanical)

Description

The primary objective of the Environmental Specialist is to ensure the plant adheres to environmental compliance standards. This position reports to the maintenance supervisor with a dotted line to the environmental manager.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to locate all dust collectors by chart
  • Ability to locate all dust collector bags and cages by chart
  • Bags and cages installation
  • Be able to attend and pass Smoke school certification (Method 9)
  • Be aware of and follow MSHA regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong personal commitment to safety
  • Dependable, self-motivated and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical & background check

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to learn to drive and operate bobcat using levers and pedals to operate for clean-up
  • Must be able to use shovel, broom, jackhammer, and wheelbarrow
  • Must be able to lift and push 40-50 lbs. of weight (wheelbarrow loaded and unloaded)
  • Must be able to use 20-lb. sledgehammer
  • Must be able to climb ladders of 50' in height and stairways of 30' in height
  • Must be able to read and understand operating manuals for mobile equipment operated
  • Must maintain truck with oil, fuel, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights. . May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS’s)

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $XX.XX-$XX.XX, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
