Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Scale Clerk for our asphalt plant or gravel pit locations. The Scale Clerk (Weighmaster) is responsible for the accurate weighing, ticketing, and documentation of all customer and internal vehicles entering and exiting the site. Acting as the primary point of contact for drivers and customers, the Weighmaster ensures that all outbound loads comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company quality standards. Successful candidates for this role maintain a balance of technical proficiency in scale software, strong administrative skills, and a 'safety-first' mindset in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
 
Beyond the scale house, you provide essential customer service and communicate effectively with plant operators and drivers to ensure a seamless loading process. This position is a seasonal role and offers benefits from day one as well as paid time off. The starting wage is dependent upon qualifications.
 
Summary of essential job functions 
  • Issue weight and product tickets at the scale house
  • Safely silo-load customer trucks with hot mix asphalt (HMA)
  • Direct and help dispatch trucks
  • Work cooperatively with sales department and dispatch
  • Understand customers’ needs and requirements
  • Answer incoming telephone calls
  • Daily inventory records in Excel
  • Cash sales – document, verify & accurately fill out checks for customers
  • Collect, process, and reconcile credit card and check transactions
  • Research problem tickets and properly document findings
  • Convey any known customer needs and/or complaints with the appropriate people
  • Assist plant leadership as required
Minimum requirements 
  • Excellent customer service skills and organizational skills are required
  •  Proficient computer skills for data entry
  • A valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 + year related experience
Work Environment 
This job is a seasonal position that operates 95% of the time in an office environment and 5% of the time outdoors.
 
Abilities required
Must be willing and able to work long shifts, sometimes in excess of 10-12 hours, and some weekend or night work may be necessary.

The hiring range for this position is $25.50 -$33.35 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position.
