JOB SUMMARY

 

The Quality Technician II is responsible for ensuring that all aggregate and Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) materials production and placement is in compliance with all required internal and external quality standards and specifications. Assist with the implementation of best practices and techniques with regard to quality, production, delivery and placement of all materials. Assist with establishing and achieving quality objectives for all aspects of operations, while working closely with operations, dispatch, estimators and project management. Ensuring safety is a priority and all Martin Marietta policies are followed.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner and follow Martin Marietta safety policies at all times.
  • Establish the environment as a priority in daily activities and act as a steward to the environment and demonstrate a commitment to meet or exceed environmental compliance.
  • Perform work related tasks as specified according to ASTM, AASHTO, CDOT and Martin Marietta standards.
  • Work closely with plant operations on a daily basis to monitor aggregate moistures, cleanliness and uniformity. Develop close working relationships with plant operations in order to ensure the HMA and aggregates meet established quality targets.
  • Ensure good customer relations and must be able to communicate effectively with customers in a diverse environment and provide customer support in resolving quality concerns and problems in the field by working with various departments and educate customers in proper HMA placement and compaction techniques
  • Work closely with the Division Lab to ensure raw material sampling schedules are met, and that all daily HMA testing results are communicated to the appropriate parties. Assist with the investigation and testing of new raw material sources and products and ensure quality HMA is being produced through the active testing of raw materials and must report all suspect results to management immediately.
  • Occasional lab work will be required for both training and participating in lab related projects and mix designs.
  • Maintain a log book of all testing conducted at the lab, plant and on-site, as well as all HMA related observations throughout your shift.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

 

High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience

CAPA Levels A and B certification is required

Radiation Safety Training Certificate

 

Work Experience

 

1+ year of experience in Quality Control Testing within HMA is required; 2 years of QC experience within related industry is preferred.

Physical Requirements

 

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for equipment servicing.

Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. You must be able to maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.

You must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.

 

Working Conditions

 

All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty and must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.

The hiring range for this position is $25 -$36.55 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position.
