DFW Area Manager – Cement Treated Materials

Job Summary

Responsible for the overall management and performance of Martin Marietta’s DFW Cement Treated Materials (CTM) business, including safety, employees, operations, sales and administration. Key responsibilities of the position include Area P&L ownership and financial performance, assisting in the development and execution of a strategic business plan for long term growth, development and execution of customer segmentation and pricing strategy, forecasting, annual budgeting, and producing regular reports of progress.  Competency requirements include total commitment to Martin’s safety culture, business and sales acumen, talent identification and development, and driving business outcomes in a positive and cooperative manner.  The preferred candidate will be an effective leader, motivator, and communicator. This position will report to the General Manager of the CTM and Portable District. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities                                                                           

  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day DFW CTM business
  • Ensure compliance with Martin Marietta and CTM policies & procedures with respect to safety, environmental, state and federal regulations
  • Perform all duties in a manner which promotes a safe and ethical work environment in accordance with Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel safety culture
  • Monitor and manage employee morale to an appropriate level
  • Review and analyze operational data to evaluate and recommend changes for efficient and sustainable operation 
  • Ensure the General Manager (GM) is aware of trends and operational issues in a timely manner and responsible for communicating proposed solutions
  • Maintain protocols and standard work, and advise GM and operations staff on necessary changes to protocols and standard work to improve performance, as well as oversee the implementation of any corrective actions
  • Lead in the development of procedures and programs to increase efficiency, equipment performance, product quality and working conditions
  • Identify and implement projects that improve quality and/or reduce plant operating costs in a safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Closely monitor, on a daily basis, Area sales and drive sales team to achieve sales and marketing goals
  • Monitor Area administrative activities (office and customer service) and implement process improvements as needed
  • Work with Procurement to purchase or direct the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with company policy- recommends or changes vendors to reduce maintenance costs
  • Implements and review ongoing contracts, purchase orders, appropriations and expenditure requests
  • Maintains operational security
  • Collaborate with Technical Services to meet product specifications and quality targets
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal support groups including Procurement, Environmental, HR, Credit, Finance, etc.

 

Education and/or Experience                                                  

  • BS Degree in related field preferred
  • Experience in a production, sales and management preferred

  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time
  • Drive automobile to various plant sites and work locations
  • Able to walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground)
  • Physical ability to climb on equipment to inspect
  • Climb up to 100 feet above ground on ladders and walkways without assistance
  • Able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop, and crawl under and into enclosed spaces
  • Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license

 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions
  • Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
