Summary: 

Our internship positions allow high school/college/trade school students to learn our industry, right where the action takes place. We are an Open Pit Mine at a large Industrial Cement Manufacturing Facility and this will be a hands-on experience for students, to learn the industry from the ground up. You’ll work alongside some of the best in the building material business. This a great opportunity for students with minimal or no mining industry experience to gain first-hand knowledge of mining & cement operation. Monthly housing stipend included to any interns relocating. 

 

Position will be primarily located in Midlothian, TX area.

 

What to Expect:
Interns will enter an approximately 10-12 week rotational internship program, allowing for ownership of a project, allowing the individual to learn the cement business and develop professional skills including leadership, time management, and relationship building. The goal of the Internship program is to provide individuals with hands-on experience in Cement Plant Operations and allow them to explore safety, production, engineering, geology, quality control, sales, administration and so much more. 

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to and enforces ethical, safety and environmental measures.

  • Operates and maintains equipment throughout the plant, including but not limited to, crushers, screens, conveyors, and heavy off-road equipment.

  • Becomes familiar with the operations of an cement plant, understanding the complete production process.

  • Becomes familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in Martin Marietta.

  • Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct

  • Must be comfortable with working at heights up to 300 feet

 

Qualifications and skills:

Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree or trade certification in:

  • Engineering (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)

  • Welding Engineering

  • Certified Welding Certifications 

Candidate must also have:

  • a valid driver’s license.

  • Prior full-time experience is preferred, not required

  • the ability to learn technical processes, high-level verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Knowledge and Interest: Any technical drafting or Computer Aided Drafting - CAD experience is a plus, Mathematics and Science and Automotive Maintenance & Automotive Troubleshooting

  • Must be over 18-years old

 

Working Conditions 

Majority of time will be outside and may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
