Summary:  

Reporting to the Director of Production Services, the Management Associate will enter an 18 to 24-month formal training program to learn the continuous chemicals processing and in addition, develop production and leadership skills. This position will perform engineering work to sustain and improve the safe and reliable operations of the manufacturing processes in the analysis, planning, control, and operation of the manufacturing process and process equipment for the production of high-purity magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide products and dolomitic lime.  In addition, will also gain exposure to our commercial sales side of the business.  

Upon successful completion of the program, the individual will be placed in a production, engineering, or another relevant position, as the first step in their management career.  This is an entry-level position.   

   

Management Associate Opportunities will be located in Manistee, Michigan   

Responsibilities:  

  • Adheres to and enforces prescribed ethics, safety and environmental measures.
  • Uses engineering principles to assist in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and driving continuous improvement efforts
  • Provides a high level of customer service to internal and external customers by following established procedures and through personal actions
  • Becomes familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in Martin Marietta.
  • Use of strong critical thinking skills, manage multiple priorities, work in a manufacturing operation environment, and work well in a team with deadlines within a planned budget
  • Understand plant processes; raw materials to finished products
  • Lead and assist in process development and technical planning activities to maximize process and equipment uptime
  • Effectively write technical documentation
  • Support plant operations, maintenance, reliability, and quality departments
  • Occasional travel to terminals, training, etc.
  • Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct

 

 Qualifications and skills:  

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields completed in the last 12-months.  Accepting May 2024 graduates.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Familiarity and knowledge of engineering methods and analysis
  • No prior full-time experience required
  • Individual must possess: the ability to learn technical processes, high-level verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word and Excel) needed
  • Previous industry exposure or experience useful

 

   

Work Environment  

This job operates 70% of the time in plants with 30% of the time in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanner and copiers.
