Haul Truck Driver
Description
The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating 60–70-ton haul trucks transporting rock within a quarry environment. This position will also operate a street sweeper (pickup broom) on an occasional basis to maintain cleanliness and safe conditions around the Spec Agg Plant and surrounding areas. Additional responsibilities include assisting with quarry maintenance activities, supporting pit and yard loader operations, and performing equipment inspections and minor maintenance. Work hours are determined by customer demand and may include extended hours and Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate 60–70-ton haul trucks to transport rock and materials
- Operate a street sweeper (pickup broom) on an occasional basis to maintain plant and yard cleanliness
- Perform and document pre-shift, pre-trip, and post-trip equipment inspections
- Conduct minor maintenance and basic repairs on haul trucks and related equipment
- Assist with quarry maintenance and support pit and yard loader operations as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all safety policies, operating procedures, and site regulations
- Work extended hours, weekends, and Saturdays as required by operational needs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of heavy equipment operation
- Experience operating haul trucks preferred; sweeper (street broom) experience a plus
- Ability to read and understand operating instructions and safety procedures
Self-motivated, reliable, and punctual; willing to learn and cross-train - Experience using a variety of hand tools
- Ability to perform and document equipment inspections
- Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions and at elevated areas
- Exposure to high levels of dust and noise
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months to 1 year of related heavy equipment or construction/mining experience
- Prior haul truck experience preferred
- No CDL required
