Job summary
Supervise production and sales activities, which may include safety, pit and/or crushing plant production, quality, customer load-out, and stripping and reclamation projects. Provide leadership to the hourly workforce to ensure safe and efficient production, maintenance, and customer service. 
 
Summary of essential job functions
  • Oversee the crushing, washing, and screening operations that are producing aggregates and recycled concrete and asphalt. 
  • Design crushing spreads that will maximize TPH and source equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and safety while operating within budget
  • Ensure compliance with Company, Local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve material quality complaints
  • Maintain successful relationships with personnel, customers, and local Union Representatives
  • Personnel management (hiring, performance management, etc.)
  • Responsible for the planning and scheduling of plant activities, to include schedule, production, and training activities.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will be accountable for 2-3 portable crews, 5 active locations, and up to 25 employees.  Annual production of 1,300,000 tons with similar sales and loadout.
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Solid understanding of aggregate processing and equipment
  • Experience with pit design/exploration, drilling, blasting, inventory control, inventory measures, and customer service preferred
  • Efficient time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; strong planning skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and capable of developing and maintaining good relationships with company and regulatory agency personnel
  • Strong leadership skills; possess the ability to lead, manage, and motivate; have a proven track record for creating employee ownership of safety, production, and quality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulations, and possess a strong personal commitment to safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook; GIS experience a plus
  • Willing and able to work long hours in all weather conditions, sometimes exceeding 65 hours per week
  • Able to work in multiple locations in and around the Twin Cities and surrounding counties
  • Physically able to lift/carry up to 75 pounds, and able to climb ladders and stairs
  • Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver’s license
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering (preferably Mining or Civil), Mining Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience required
  • 5 years' aggregate industry experience, including prior production management experience at a comparable-sized operation, preferred
  • 3+ years of experience as a Foreman or a position of similar responsibility
The hiring range for this position is $120,000 -$170,000 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position. In addition, this role is eligible for our annual bonus program. Bonuses awarded under this program are determined based on the performance of the organization and the employee.
