Assistant Plant Manager

Summary/Objective
The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for managing all safety, operational, financial, environmental and personnel duties for the plant in accordance with company programs, policies, and guidelines as well as government agencies. This position will be responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in managing all underground mine and surface plant activities.
Essential Functions

Assist the plant manager with daily and strategic management of plant functions and provide leadership in areas to include: financial, safety, environmental, and personnel. Responsible for driving location expectations and metrics to include: company assets, budgeting, cost control/savings measures, environmental and personnel functions. Champion the Martin Marietta safety culture. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, state and Martin Marietta policies. Provide direction to meet plant safety, quality, production and employee development expectations. Comply with, maintain and update all local State, Federal and Company environmental regulatory programs, policies and guidelines. All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will supervise up to 8 direct reports and accountable for up to 50 employees.
Work Environment
This job operates frequently in a maintenance and operations environment in an underground mine location.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position at a 24-hour operation. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel

Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience required
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years quarry management experience
- Knowledge of MSHA laws and commitment to safety
- Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred Education and Experience
A Masters’s Degree in Engineering or Business
