Job Summary: Martin Marietta is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to lead a team of Continuous Improvement Specialists. This role is crucial in driving operational excellence and ensuring world-class levels of equipment productivity and safety within our quarry and mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Continuous Improvement Specialists.
- Oversee and participate in the development and delivery of expert-level operational training for quarry equipment operators, operator teams, and site management personnel.
- Continuously update and develop training materials to ensure training covers machine familiarity, inspection, care, safe operating practices, and efficient material extraction and transportation methods.
- Evaluate site configurations, conditions, and operational effectiveness of personnel, providing input and training necessary to maximize productivity.
- Assess equipment fleet configurations and performance, advising on equipment selection and sizing.
- Communicate and enforce operational performance standards and expectations.
- Coordinate with OEM and aftermarket training resources.
- Implement an efficient electronic scheduling system to optimize the training process.
- Establish a streamlined training records retention system to effectively track and report on training metrics.
- Present the training program overview, key metrics, and strategic vision to management.
- Participate in the development and management of a department budget.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements:
- Mining or quarry supervisor or management experience.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in mining or quarry equipment setup, inspection, maintenance, and operating practices.
- Quarry or mine blasting knowledge and/or experience.
- Experience working in a large organization with multiple operations, diverse operating environments, and varying equipment fleets.
- 15 years of operations experience in quarrying and mining environments.
- 10 years of primary loader and haul truck operating experience.
- 5 years of experience in training equipment operators.
- Extensive knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and other regulatory matters.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster a vision.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, VST, and ERP systems.
- Highest levels of Caterpillar Certified Trainer certifications or the ability to obtain them.
- Willingness to travel extensively with frequent overnight stays.
- High school diploma.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/English).
- Current MSHA annual refresher certification.
- BS or BA in Education.
