SUMMARY

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and pro-active management and forward deployment of material from all Premier Magnesia locations in an effort to provide product to the customer in the most efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner. They will assist the Customer Support Team in supporting and executing the coordination of all transportation modes, leveling outbound traffic, reducing wait time and detention/demurrage charges, and perform supporting analysis/analytics to support key transportation decisions. In addition, they will be responsible to build a strong culture based on collaborative hands-on teamwork and continuous improvement in support of “OUR HOUSE” initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Functions
  • Determine transportation modes for shipments in an effort to reduce total logistics costs while satisfying due date requirements for each shipment.
  • Perform systematic transportation planning of customer orders within our Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Manage daily and weekly loading schedules and identify opportunities for level loading throughout the network based on customer orders or tank inventories that the logistics team monitors for local deliveries.
  • Enforce customer segmentation transportation levels of service to protect key accounts from service delays and prioritize load management.
  • Act as a liaison between third party transloading service providers and customer support team to resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Work with inventory management team to actively manage the forward deployment of inventory.
  • Analyze transportation performance to drive improvement in KPIs and close performance gaps; Identify data needs to drive performance
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with effective communication and thorough follow through
  • Tactical Functions
  • Enter data/shipping details into customer portals and Premier’s TMS as required. Resolve any pickup or delivery issues as they arise.
  • Process freight RFPs to optimize lowest freight cost on any in house shipments
  • Support data accuracy within the TMS and ERP systems.
  • Crosstrain in other Logistics functions
  • Track and trace shipments as requested, POD’s, BOL’s. etc.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for inventory move discrepancies
  • All other assigned duties as assigned/required.
  • Work closely with suppliers, production, and freight schedulers to ensure that customer's requirements are met.
  • Follow through with month end processes to ensure timely closing.
  • Update or write new procedures as the need arises.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Associates Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-3 plus years of experience in logistics, operations, or supply chain field.
  • Working knowledge of warehousing, LTL, TL, and Rail Freight specifications
  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal, formal written and grammatically correct correspondence and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with customers, team members, management, and outside vendors with professionalism, tact, and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
  • Strong personal organization skills and acute attention to detail required.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and accurate data entry skills are required.
  • Experience with trucking and rail companies preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience independently developing strategy and driving tangible results using data and achieving strategic objectives.
