Position Summary:

The Senior Laborer performs a variety of manual and equipment-based tasks to support plant operations. This role requires proficiency developed through formal training or work experience and operates within established procedures with limited supervision.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Operates production equipment (Skid Steer/Manlift) as directed within company the company guidelines and safety standards.
  • Performs manual labor including shoveling, sweeping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and raking
  • Monitors plant conditions and perform routine plant maintenance
  • Lubricating plant equipment
  • Ensuring plant cleanliness and housekeeping
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues using standard operating procedures
  • Adjusts equipment under supervision to optimize production
  • Cross trains in various plant areas and supports team operations
  • Takes on additional duties as needed to meet evolving operational demands

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of related experience in equipment or plant operations
  • Proficiency through job-related training and considerable work experience
  • Production equipment operation
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills
  • Welding Experience is a plus
  • Time management and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

 

Physical requirements

  • Ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks to a height of 100 ft. and work at this height for extended periods
  • Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as required
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs
  • Ability to use hand tools such as grease guns, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, and rain)
  • Must be able to work in conditions including dust, vibration, heights, mechanical hazards, confined spaces and electrical hazards.
  • Must be able to walk across steep/rough terrain
  • Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs
  • Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants.

 

Working Conditions

Will work in varied outdoor environments (in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions). Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs. The incumbent will be exposed to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricant.
