Sales Representative
Description
- Market and sell aggregates within the assigned region to achieve established sales and margin goals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, producers, and internal stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Proactively target and acquire new customers through prospecting, networking, and industry bidding platforms.
- Review bid documents, specifications, and project requirements; prepare and submit accurate bid packages, quotes, and proposals.
- Maintain and update sales activity records, project bid logs, and forecasts (monthly and yearly) with accurate volume, pricing, and pipeline information.
- Evaluate market trends, competitor pricing, and project pipelines to identify new business opportunities and strategic growth areas.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality Control, and Dispatch teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of aggregates to meet customer requirements.
- Work with customers and the Credit Department to ensure accounts receivable are well-managed and in compliance with company standards.
- Conduct regular customer site visits to monitor ongoing projects, assess needs, and provide recommendations on materials and applications.
- Represent Martin Marietta professionally at industry events, trade shows, and association meetings to strengthen brand presence and industry relationships.
- Participate in business-line budgeting, planning, and forecasting activities to align territory goals with divisional objectives.
- Ensure all sales and service activities adhere to company policies, safety standards, and ethical business practices.
- Provide regular updates to management on sales performance, backlog, pricing trends, customer activity, and competitive landscape.
- Serve as a trusted liaison between customers and internal departments, facilitating prompt issue resolution and long-term relationship management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of sales experience, preferably within the aggregates, ready mix, or construction materials industries.
- Strong knowledge of aggregate products, production processes, applications, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to analyze market trends, project data, and pricing strategies to drive business decisions.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and bidding or estimating platforms.
- Strong business acumen, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Strong time management and attention to detail in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
