Job Overview
The Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for executing inventory control measures to minimize stock holding and maximize accuracy of inventory data and records. This involves performing tasks that have a direct impact on the availability of products for orders from a physical and system perspective.
Core Functions
- Warehouse Inventory Control
- Ensure all racks, shelves and items are properly labeled and kept up to date.
- Validate the location of products within and ensure it is updated/maintained in the system.
- Investigate and solve all on-site inventory issues with the warehouse personnel.
- Supply warehouse associates with proper documentation for inbound LCL and FCL shipments.
- Coordinate schedule transfer containers and provide the BOL to the driver.
- Restock products to proper location from returns and/or location moves to ensure products are stocked to the set standards at all times.
- Ensure workspaces are clean throughout and at the end of each shift to contribute to a productive and safe work environment.
- Prepare location for new temporary product / new product to be properly stored and available.
- Pull products for short picks to complete a customer order.
- Assist warehouse associates in locating products and missing products.
- Coordinate with warehouse associates on movement of product within the warehouse.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery when necessary; adheres to all safety protocols and procedures when operating warehouse equipment and handling materials.
- System Inventory Management
- Serve as the point of contact for Purchasing and Sales with inventory requests.
- Review demand patterns and tracks supply, stock and turnover of inventory to establish holding costs.
- Reconcile inventory within the enterprise resource planning system (ERP) to accurately display inventory levels for Sales and customers.
- Investigate the discrepancies between expected and actual inventory levels in order to understand and correct any differences.
- Ensure availability of stock and plan intercompany transfer by reviewing sales orders weekly.
- Perform monthly cycle counting.
- Review and maintain the age-obsolete inventory report for Purchasing and Logistics.
- Investigate and solve purchase order discrepancies in collaboration with Purchasing.
- Process vendor orders or drop ship orders as requested by Sales.
- Place, receive and transfer purchase orders in the system.
- Participate in annual physical inventory with efficiency and accuracy to ensure proper inventory control and management.
- Perform unit of measure corrections to ensure their accuracy in transactions, stock records and reports for inventory management.
- Adjust and/or modify an existing requisition order (RO) due to errors, changes or discrepancies in the original order.
- Operational Effectiveness
- Monitor email regularly for incoming inquiries and requests related to inventory control.
- Follow best practices for inventory management and control that ensure the best possible utilization of inventory space and dollars as well as inventory accuracy.
- Consistently follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in process improvement initiatives that enhance inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Participate in inventory-related projects to ensure product availability and maintain deadlines.
- Use inventory tracking tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Use technology solutions to support inventory management initiatives.
Competencies and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field OR 4-10 years of managing inventory or similar experience.
- Previous experience with inventory systems and warehouse technology preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Proficient communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills.
- Eye for accuracy and detail oriented.
- Experience following policies and processes that align with organizational goals.
- Customer-first mindset and high ethical standards.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. frequently.
- Prolonged periods of working on feet/moving in a warehouse.
