Job Description
The Outside Sales position supports the General Manager and Sales Team to perform, coordinate and oversee field sales and mid-level projects while providing an extensive level of support, acting with little supervision, to anticipate needs while managing the day-to-day workflow and prioritizing various projects.
The Outside Sales Representative is expected to embrace our “Glad to be Here” core value by promoting a positive sales culture, while developing and maintaining knowledge of inventory, account management, sales processes, and best industry practices. A successful Outside Sales Representative maximizes results by solving customer problems and creating mutual value through the following tasks:
- Acquiring new customers and establishing new accounts.
- Maximizing sales and gross profit within a defined territory and ensuring sales goals are met – or exceeded!
- Analyzing customer needs for additional sales opportunities by asking questions and being observant of current and future sales opportunities and leverage observations.
- Establishing trust by engaging with customers to determine needs – beyond just immediate needs – to uncover future needs and expansion opportunities.
- Continually growing technical, product, and application knowledge of parts essential to the heavy-duty vehicle aftermarket.
- Suggesting sale of related parts when identical replacements are not available.
- Effectively communicating features, benefits, and warranty policy information to customers.
- Leveraging sales force automation tools to identify opportunities within accounts.
- Communicating opportunities and challenges to management.
- Learning many facets of the heavy-duty truck and trailer parts industry.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education
- High School Diploma (or GED) required, Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills and a proven sales record.
- Heavy-duty equipment distribution sales or related industry experience, preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding active listening and persuasion skills; demonstrated ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization; demonstrated business acumen.
- MS Office Suite proficiency with ability to conduct basic database tasks in Excel.
- Experience with an ERP system and/or sales force automation tools, preferred.
- Valid drivers’ license with clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 25lbs frequently.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to lift/carry 75lbs+ infrequently during team lifts.
