Analyst / Data Scientist   

Job Purpose:   

Marken is currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our team, someone who is passionate about data-driven insights and has expertise in problem-solving, programming, statistics, machine learning, data analysis, data visualization, and exceptional storytelling skills.   

Main Duties and Responsibilities:   

• Problem-Solving: Lead efforts to identify and solve complex business problems using data-driven approaches, translating data into actionable insights.
• Programming: Develop and maintain data pipelines, algorithms, and models using programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
• Statistics: Apply statistical techniques to analyze large datasets, perform hypothesis testing, and provide robust statistical solutions.
• Data Science: Utilize a wide range of data science techniques to extract, clean, and transform data, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Machine Learning (Supervised & Unsupervised): Develop, implement, and fine-tune machine learning models for classification, regression, clustering, and anomaly detection.
• Data Analysis: Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover insights, patterns, and trends in data, presenting findings to inform decision-making.
• Data Visualization: Create visually compelling and informative data visualizations using tools such as Power BI.
• Storytelling: Communicate complex data findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders through compelling storytelling, presentations, and reports.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to drive data initiatives.
• Model Deployment: Implement models into production environments, monitor performance, and ensure scalability.
• Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and Generative AI to bring innovative solutions to the organization.

Qualifications:   

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Scientist or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or Java for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling
• Strong statistical background and the ability to apply statistical methods effectively
• Expertise in supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and model development
• Proficient in data analysis, feature engineering, and data preprocessing
• Data visualization skills using Power BI
• Exceptional storytelling skills to convey complex findings in a clear and engaging manner
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a data-centric approach
• Experience with big data technologies and frameworks is a plus
• Knowledge of database systems and SQL for data retrieval
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent time management and project management skills
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) for text analysis
• Deep Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for data storage and processing
• A/B testing and experimentation
• Business acumen and industry-specific knowledge
