Job Title:Coach

Department:Player Development

Reports to:Affiliate Field Manager (in addition to Director, Player Development)

Status:Full-Time

 

Primary Objective:  Support the Affiliate Field Manager in all facets of player development on a day-to-day basis while consistently advocating for the Seattle Mariners philosophies and programs.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with staff members to develop players on-field skills
  • Communicate with Player Development coordinators regarding the teaching of fundamentals in all areas
  • Collaborate with Baseball Operations personnel in developing and implementing Player Plans
  • Ensure that all technical, advance scouting and statistical initiatives are being met
  • Assist in Community Service efforts

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Equivalent, relevant experience (i.e. coaching and/or playing at a high level) will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Spanish speaking skills a plus

Physical Activities and Working Conditions:

  • Required to live in assigned affiliate city during the season
  • Required to travel on all road trips with assigned affiliate
  • Ability to throw batting practice and/or hit groundballs and flyballs is preferred
  • Must be willing to work all affiliate games and practices, including nights and weekends
  • Attend and assist with pre and/or post-season camps as assigned by the Director, Player Development
