Job Title:Seasonal Minor League Athletic Training Fellowship

Department:Baseball Operations

Reports To: MiLB Athletic Training Coordinator

Status: Part-time, Exempt (seasonal)

 

Primary Objective:  Assist Mariners Medial Staff with delivery of comprehensive athletic training services to the Seattle Mariners players who are assigned to & utilizing the Peoria Facility or at an assigned affiliate location.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Prevent, evaluate, and treat athletic injuries
  • Keep daily records of injury reports and treatment records in EMR
  • Timely reporting of injuries and treatments
  • Assist with field set up and take down for workouts and games
  • Assist with scheduling and transporting athletes to appointments with appropriate physicians, obtain documentation for these visits to include in their electronic medical record
  • Facilitate maintenance exercise programs; ensure compliance of maintenance strengthening and rest and recovery programs
  • Assist with rehabilitation programs as directed by the RTP Team
  • Monitor pitcher throwing programs
  • Daily communication with supervising ATC and field staff updating health status of injured players
  • Organize and maintain a clean Athletic Training room; ensure all modalities are properly serviced and calibrated
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Experience & Qualifications:
 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine or related area of study
  • NATABOC Athletic Training Certification
  • Current CPR/First Aid & AED Certification
  • Eligible for Licensure in the State of Arizona (or other applicable location) for any/all practice certifications

Preferred

  • Masters degree in Sports Medicine or related area of study
  • 1-2 years’ experience in professional or high-level athletics’ field

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Experience and expertise with electronic medical record
  • Ability to perform sport-specific injury evaluation & rehabilitation programs
  • Ability to interact with staff, coaches, players and other members of the High Performance Team

  • Knowledge of advanced therapy techniques (needling, IASTM, etc)
  • Proficiency in functional movement screens and assessments
  • Experience with strength & conditioning programming
  • Bilingual (multilingual)

 

Physical Activities and Working Conditions:

 

  • Maximum lifting of up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting of weights up to 25 pounds; typically standing and walking for much of the day
  • Position may require travel
  • Position may require non-traditional work hours (evening & weekends)
  • Position is based in Peoria, Arizona and may require relocation to an affiliate location during the championship season.
