Primary Objective: Responsible for the delivery, management, operations and implementation of applications and solutions that support customers, employees, and business partners. This role will make pivotal investment and priority trade-off decisions, negotiate and manage vendor contracts, and lead a high performing team. 

 Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic leader, seeking new, improved, and innovative ways to support the effectiveness, reliability, and execution of business systems, with the ultimate goal of to support company efforts to grow the business and increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure information technology (IT) alignment with Company Mission, Vision and Core Values.

Major Responsibilities and Duties Which May Be Considered Essential:

 Leadership and Functional Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for business technology processes that incorporate a constant software lifecycle methodology and best practices. Work with leadership to identify, analyze and leverage existing and emerging technology in the development of effective business solutions.
  • Participates in the development of the IT Application/Solutions strategy, vision, and roadmap for the organization.
  • Lead and inspire the application development team to engage with the business and identify new functionality, develop compelling business cases, prioritize projects, and develop plans that maximize return on investment for the company.
  • Ensure that all application development initiatives are well managed and delivered to meet expectations on functionality, timeliness, and cost. Resolves critical path issues across multiple divisions to keep business technology initiatives on plan.
  • Develop and lead a collaborative and Agile software development approach that improves velocity, while maintaining a strong focus on both quality and scalability.
  • Drive the cultural changes necessary to enable a continuous delivery model and foster a strong focus on automation of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Identify emerging technology trends, especially in SaaS and cloud computing, and ensure the company is leveraging them when appropriate to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and drive value.
  • Partner with internal customers to develop training and deployment plans aimed at maximizing both user adoption and realization of business benefits.
  • Manage application vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to procure resources and technology solutions to meet the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Effectively build high-performing teams through solid leadership. Promote and maintain positive employee morale and engagement through an open-door Policy, consistent two-way communication, cooperation, proper delegation, recognition, and effective on-going performance management, succession planning, training, and development of staff. Must encourage innovation and foster individual initiative.
  • Foster a strong innovation and customer service mind-set throughout the application development team, while championing thought leadership and partnership with the business.
  • Responsible for participating in the creation and management of the IT department and project budgets that best aligns with business strategy.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, business, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a leadership position for software development, project management, process development and resource management and 7 years in a Senior level management capacity.

Competencies and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate and craft a vision and lead a team to execution of said vision through a specific set of tactics and executions.
  • Has successfully led development and delivery of multiple complex business technology solutions into production that have achieved or surpassed business goals. Including change management efforts and support organizational wide change initiatives, such as successful Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations, development of customer experience roadmaps and executions for engagement, development and support of Data Platforms and Business Intelligence (BI).
  • Deep knowledge of system architecture, technical design, and system and software development technology.
  • Has knowledge of emerging trends and developments in PaaS, SaaS, iOS/Android app integration and API development, cloud, AI, machine learning and other digital technologies
  • Experience developing and supporting mission critical applications optimized to run in the cloud or virtualized environments
  • Must possess proficient computer skills including Cloud Data Platforms and architecture, major ERP’s (MS Dynamics AX, Workday, SAP, Oracle, etc.), CRM platforms (MS Dynamics/Salesforce etc.), eCommerce platforms and other store (POS) and budgetary software programs is preferred.
