Job Title: Minor League Video Intern
Department: Player Development
Reports To: Coordinator, Player Development
Status: Part-time, Nonexempt, Paid Internship

Dates: Must be available to start by March 3rd, 2020. End date is end of the 2020 season, September 2020.  Positions will be based at Mariner Affiliates; AAA Tacoma, AA Arkansas, A+ Modesto, A- West Virginia, Short Season Everett, and Rookie level Peoria.

Summary

The Seattle Mariners are seeking Minor League Video Interns for all minor league affiliates. The individual will work with our video capture system to capture and tag each pitch at that level. The position is also key in our advanced scouting for each affiliate, providing reports to players and staff.  Additionally, this individual will work extensively with relevant baseball technology to assist our Player Development department. This individual must also demonstrate a passion and drive to produce the best possible work.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Capture, tag, and upload video for the minor league affiliate’s home and road games during the regular season and/or the playoffs
  • Edit and upload tagged video for players, coaches, and staff to access
  • Work during practices to capture pitching and hitting data and provide staff with the data
  • Assist coaches and players with video and data needs
  • Assist in development, preparation, and presentation of advanced scouting reports
  • High level of communication with players, staff, and coaches
  • Help coordinate the Trackman operation
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements  

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must be able to identify pitch types
  • Available to cover all home and road games during the minor league season
  • Willing to relocate to affiliate’s home city during the season

Skills Needed

  • Candidates should be highly motivated and professional at all times
  • Must demonstrate ability to be resourceful and dependable
  • Understanding of BATS, Rapsodo, and Trackman preferred but not required
