GENERAL SUMMARY

Under close supervision, this position is an entry level engineering technician, generally supporting CKNA manufacturing groups by coordinating and assisting in developing packaging requirements for all parts and models.  Position will insure packaging is acceptable for all incoming parts which will also include packaging set-up for the service parts.     

 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Coordinate design requests with Suppliers.
  2. Demonstrates an understanding of quality issues and proactive resolution to the issue.
  3. Updates packaging-related databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy and communicates packaging specifications and development guidelines to internal and external parties. 
  4. Works closely with internal personnel to document, maintain, and improve packaging processes and / or resolve packaging-related issues, questions, and concerns.
  5. Coordinates and assists with developing packaging for all models and assist as needed to locate and arrange for packaging to be delivered to CKNA sites and to suppliers.
  6. Requests and reviews quotes through purchasing for all new packaging.
  7. Assist Packaging Manager and Engineers with research and evaluation to determine the best packaging type and source for the various parts.
  8. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of packaging and works closely with Management and Engineering to seek guidance and advice on non-routine or problem areas. 
  9. Evaluates and submit plans to assist suppliers in having the best packaging to accommodate our lines.
  10. Evaluates and researches the cause of damaged parts getting to customers via shipping and develops a countermeasure to alleviate the problem. 
  11. Work closely with and coordinate projects with the rack repair areas in Lewisburg and Shelbyville plants.
  12. Recommends and assist in creating packaging changes including reducing the cost of cardboard to the plants.
  13. Maintain and monitor the packaging budget to insure accurate records are kept comparing expenditures to budget.  Target is to maintain the lowest cost feasible in packaging materials each month.
  14. Revises the PDS sheets as needed when changes are made on the floor and with suppliers.
  15. Travel to CKNA plants, warehouses, and supplier locations as needed to insure task are completed timely.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

This work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED.

 

  • Have one to two years vocational technical training or an Associate’s Degree in related discipline with up to two years experience in related area of responsibility.

  • If do not meet above education requirements, must have minimum of four years experience in related area of responsibility.

 

  • Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications including CAD or other design software skills.

 

  • Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.

 

  • Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test.

 

  • Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, and other presentation applications and/or software.
