The Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished Assistant Vice President to join our Client Accounting team as part of our financial services business in Grand Cayman.

 

The Cayman Islands is home to our global headquarters and where the Maples Group first established operations in the 1960s. Since then we have grown to become one of the largest employers in Cayman, where colleagues from all over the world collaborate to deliver best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide. As part of our Cayman team you will be responsible for:

 

  • Providing accounting, financial reporting and administration services to a variety of financial services clients, including structured finance vehicles, trusts and investment funds.

 

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

 

  • will have a university degree, preferably in economics, accounting, finance or business administration;
  • will have completed an internationally recognised accounting designation (e.g. CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent);
  • have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience with a top tier accounting and audit firm, and during such time provided services to clients primarily in the financial services industry;
  • a solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS;
  • experience in a role primarily providing accounting and/or financial statement compilation services is preferred;
  • good working knowledge of accounting and/or financial statement preparation software and experience with an investment bank, trust services company, investment manager or fund administrator will be an advantage;

 

Key skills for this role are as follows:

 

  • attention to detail, professionalism, excellent organizational skills, and a team-first mentality;
  • ability to be a self-starter, able to handle a diverse workload;
  • sound working knowledge of all Windows applications;
  • experience with relationship management and client service;
  • excellent time management, prioritization and communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • overtime at short notice will be required and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and meet strict deadlines is a must.
