The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Vice President to join our Fiduciary Team as part of our financial services business in Jersey.
As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Jersey office opened its doors in January 2019. We have achieved good growth since with the Maples infrastructure and network supporting us to deliver the best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide alongside our colleagues in legal services.
As part of our Jersey team you will be performing the below listed key duties:
Key Duties:
  • Acting as a key person on the regulated Jersey entities as part of the local Span of Control.
  • Member of the local management committee and, in due course, a director on the board.
  • Actively participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the TCB codes and other applicable regulations.
  • Participating in global CRM initiatives, including representing Maples at local and international events as required.
  • Generating new business leads and developing strong client relationships to assist the business in meeting budgeted revenue targets.
  • Understanding and communicating knowledgeably and commercially about the firm’s global suite of services when meeting with clients or prospects
  • Liaising with arrangers, investment managers, lawyers and other relevant parties concerning the setting up of new business as well as acting as a primary point of contact for ongoing issue resolution.
  • Acting as senior point of contact and generally overseeing a portfolio of clients, with support from the wider team.
  • Acting as director on a number of client companies.
  • Co-ordinating the onboarding of new clients and successful completion of the respective transactions.
  • Reviewing transaction documents, providing written comments to parties as appropriate and attending meetings as required.
  • Developing and continuously improving business partnerships with client decision makers, ensuring that the Maples Group is viewed as their trusted and preferred service provider - actively seeking feedback on the effectiveness of service delivery, leading efforts to improve client satisfaction.
  • Anticipating client needs beyond current projects or engagements, adding to the client’s short- term and long-term business results - understanding clients and their operating environment and circumstances, and the strategic issues that may impact them.
  • Overseeing the complete client lifecycle to ensure staff are maintaining all relevant Maples databases with accurate information in relation to clients as well as ensuring all annual administration is completed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Mentoring the Jersey team and contributing to an office environment that promotes continuous learning and development, including managing at least 2-3 direct reports.
  • Developing effective working relations with senior colleagues both in Jersey and across our global offices, lawyers at Maples and Calder, and the JFSC, as required.
Requirements
  • 15+ years’ trust company / funds services business experience
  • JFSC approved and proven experience as a director of a Jersey regulated business
  • JFSC Table 4 qualification (ideally with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), STEP or ACCA/ACA or equivalent);
  • A high calibre leader who can influence and mentor a growing team in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently & in a team environment
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills
  • A strong track record of business development and fostering client relationships
  • Methodical approach, strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
