The Opportunity
We are looking for a Junior Client Accountant to join our Client Accounting Team as part of our financial services business in Luxembourg.
As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Luxembourg office opened its doors in 2007. Located in Cloche d'Or, a commitment to service excellence and investment in our people quickly established Luxembourg as a regional hub where our 80+ teammates deliver the best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide alongside our Maples and Calder (legal services) colleagues.
JCA, depending on level of experience, provides assistance and independently undertakes a number of routine accounting mandates as directed by SCAs, AVPs, VPs and SVP, and with the administration of a portfolio of accounting-only clients.
As part of our Luxembourg team you will be assisting in performing below key duties:
- processing day-to-day routine accounting transactions, reconciliation with bank, invoices, agreements and interest schedules within Maples accounting systems;
- preparing monthly reporting and compiling financial statements (according to Lux GAAP and/or IFRS standard or any other accounting principles) on time on an annual basis and in accordance with the agreed terms of the engagement;
- ensuring files are compliant with MaplesFS procedures and policies;
- ensuring all relevant MaplesFS databases are completed and maintained with accurate information in relation to assigned portfolio of clients;
- ensuring all annual administration in respect of a client is completed in accordance with the MaplesFS policies and procedures and in a timely manner;
- liaising with auditors during the audit planning stages and during the course of the annual financial statement audit;
- developing effective working relations with clients and responding promptly and professionally to client requests;
- taking responsibility for the portfolio assigned to them that the relevant information needed to prepare CIT and VAT Returns are provided to the relevant tax advisors (internal or external). This would also involve liaising with relevant tax advisors for and on behalf of a client company making sure that the process is followed A to Z until the returns are filed;
- preparing eCDF filing and BCL reporting if any within deadlines for submission;
- giving input needed to help the tax team to finalise on the FATCA and CRS reporting if any;
- preparing weekly invoice tracker and processing client payments.
Requirements:
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Fluent in English;
- Degree in Accounting or any other relevant studies;
- Up to 2 years accounting experience
- Knowledge of Luxembourg corporate accounting gained in Fiduciary, Audit or any other similar business would be an advantage;
- Lux GAAP and/or IFRS knowledge would be considered as a plus.
- Professional accountancy qualification (i.e. ACA/ACCA/CIMA) would be an asset;
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- Team player
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with other people from diverse background
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment
