The Opportunity
We are looking for a Vice President to join our Compliance Monitoring Risk Assurance (CMP) team as part of our financial services business in the Cayman Islands. You will be reporting to our Regional Head of Regulatory Compliance in the Group Compliance team.
As part of our commitment to excellence, MaplesFS Compliance are enhancing their focus on a broad monitoring and testing programme under the Risk Assurance banner with a dedicated team based principally in Montreal with a presence in Ireland. As part of our team, you will be performing the below key duties:
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Assist the Compliance Analysts with the ongoing operations of the Risk Assurance team to support monitoring and testing, under the guidance of the Regional Head of Regulatory Compliance, Americas & Caribbean and the Chief Compliance Officer
- Support the global Risk Assurance monitoring and testing programme
- Work with each office to understand the data, metrics and information that needs to be gathered and tracked to support the Risk Assurance programme
- Work with each office to understand the regulations and rules governing outsourcing to ensure that the CMP team is best able to support Risk Assurance activities
- Lead and work with the Compliance Officers to identify enhancements to testing scripts, ViClarity references and the overall testing programme
- Lead monitoring reviews in accordance with the global Risk Assurance monitoring and testing programme
- Lead the second line testing of operational and business activities to ensure that activities are being carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Lead on draft findings and recommendations and liaise with business areas the subject of Risk Assurance testing where permitted by outsourcing agreements otherwise provide the details and recommendations to local Compliance teams to discuss with business, with your assistance
- Assist to track regulatory changes with the help of local Compliance colleagues to ensure testing and monitoring scripts reflect those changes
- Support the roll out of the Global Compliance Strategic programme as required, including working on ad hoc project related initiatives
- Understand MFS’s core systems in order to ensure that the monitoring and testing is effective and efficient
- Develop strong skills in Financial Crime and Prudential regulations to ensure that the testing and monitoring is effective and efficient
- Learn to undertake transaction monitoring
- Alongside the wider team, ensure that Financial Crime and other Compliance risks are identified, assessed, monitored and mitigated.
What you bring
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Current/previous experience in a similar risk assurance/compliance monitoring role
- Experience in Financial Services regulatory compliance
- Experience in Corporate Governance and Prudential Compliance
- Experience in working across multiple jurisdictions and time zones
- Exemplary communication skills
- Professional Qualification in Risk, Compliance and/or Corporate Governance beneficial
- 7 - 10+/- years technical experience, depending on level
- Certifications in financial crime and/or regulatory subjects (e.g. Corporate Governance) is of benefit
- Experience of managing and developing a team is an asset
- Competent in Word and Excel
