The Opportunity
We are looking for an accomplished Junior Tax Compliance Officer to join our Client Accounting Team as part of our financial services business in Luxembourg.
As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Luxembourg office opened its doors in 2007. As part of our Luxembourg team you will be performing below key duties:
The Junior Tax Compliance Officer will help to achieve one larger goal of providing tax compliance services to our corporate clients. These services include the review of tax assessments, the preparation and review of direct tax returns, indirect tax return, withholding tax returns, the intermediation with the tax authorities, assistance with FATCA/CRS reporting, DAC 6 due diligence as well as participating, in collaboration with the Accounting Team, in the tax provision services. Contributing to continuously improve the tax compliance processes and develop added value services:
- Maintaining tax records and follow up on all filing deadlines related to client companies taxes;
- Assisting the MFX teams on specific technical tax compliance matters;
- Providing assistance to our clients on a day-to-day basis on various tax queries; Liaising directly with tax advisors / clients when required;
- Gaining ownership on non-complex client files;
- Reporting problems or complex technical matters to the Tax Compliance Manager; and
- Assisting the MFX teams with continuous learning by keeping abreast of local and international market and regulatory developments, which may affect the local tax framework.
- Acting in accordance with legal, regulatory and internal risk management requirements, including complying with policies and procedures; and
- Reporting business issues to the Tax Compliance Manager and SVP.
- Delivering high quality engagements on time, and to the clients full satisfaction;
- Being aware of the sensitivity of information and treating it appropriately;
- Demonstrating a high productivity level in work through time and cost control; and
- Demonstrating capability to think broadly, considering a wide range of internal and external factors when solving problems.
- Demonstrating a commitment to acquiring new capabilities, constantly striving to improve performance; and
- Proactively seeking out and taking advantage of training and development opportunities.
- Preparing accurate and timely net asset valuations for a growing portfolio of hedge and private equity funds and performing certain share registrar and transfer agency functions, including processing investment and shareholder transactions and posting accounting entries;
- Involvement in client-related and internal administrative functions and liaison with investment managers, prime brokers and other transaction counterparties in various international jurisdictions; and
- Delivering high levels of client service in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
Requirements:
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Relevant academic background
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Fluent in English (any other languages would be considered as an advantage)
- Strong written communication and verbal presentation skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
