The Opportunity
We are looking for a Graduate for a Compliance Analyst role to join our Compliance team as part of our financial services business in Jersey.
As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Jersey office opened its doors in January 2019. We have achieved good growth since with the Maples infrastructure and network supporting us to deliver the best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide alongside our colleagues in legal services.
As a Junior Professional joining the Maples Team, we are excited to offer a full training programme designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the compliance function and to build the foundation skills needed for a successful career in compliance. This structured programme will last between 18 and 24 months and offers an opportunity to learn the various compliance areas, gaining hands on experience and training. You will also spend time with the various parts of the business to build a solid understanding of the services we provide.
As part of our Jersey team you will be performing the below listed key duties:
- Assisting in tracking and analysing relevant laws, regulations and industry standards;
- Assisting with undertaking the necessary testing under the Compliance Monitoring Programme, such testing to include monitoring that internal Board policies and operational procedures are being consistently and effectively adhered to;
- Assisting with monitoring to ensure the timely resolution of any findings identified as a result of the Compliance Monitoring Programme;
- Assisting in preparing regular compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies;
- Undertaking mapping of the relevant legislation and regulation and subsequently providing support with the development, review and implementation of internal policies and procedures;
- Maintaining the Compliance Registers;
- Assisting with undertaking Client Due Diligence (“CDD”) reviews of new business to ensure internal and regulatory requirements are adhered to;
- Assisting with and providing all aspects of compliance support in relation to the compliance function as may arise on an ad hoc basis;
- Assisting with investigations into potential compliance breaches, including analysing data, gathering evidence, and drafting reports;
- Assisting the Compliance Officer in maintaining the list of clients and potential clients that have been subject to enhanced due diligence (“EDD”) procedures and those that have been identified as politically exposed persons.
Requirements:
- Willingness to undertake relevant qualifications;
- The right to live and work in Jersey;
- High level of attention to detail;
- Ability to think critically and propose solutions to compliance challenges;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines;
- Proactive and able to deal with tasks independently using own initiative;
- Be an effective communicator;
- Strong administrative and organisational skills;
- Ability to research, interpret and apply regulations and policies;
- Bright, enthusiastic and quick learner;
- Strong team player.
