About the Role
The role represents an excellent opportunity to join our Jersey office and to make a significant contribution to our dynamic and growing practice. Opened in 2018, Maples and Calder provides premium quality Jersey legal advice to the corporate, finance, investment fund sectors and, through Maples Fiduciary Services (Jersey) Limited, the Maples Group offers complementary entity formation and corporate/administration service solutions. There is an exciting, diverse and healthy mix of opportunities generated by the local team and referrals through our global colleagues, with a focus on prestigious cross-border mandates for blue-chip and institutional-level clients.
The successful candidate will have exposure to some of the best offshore legal work in the market and will work as part of, and be supported by, a highly successful, entrepreneurial and collegiate team.
Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Advising blue-chip clients on a wide range of matters with a particular focus on providing legal advice on corporate and finance matters including M&A, private equity transactions, corporate restructurings, DCM, High Yield, leveraged and structured finance, including securitisation
- Working with a client base that focuses on major banks, multinational and institutional investment firms and leading onshore law firms in major financial centres
- Engaging in business development activities, being active in the promotion of the firm and seeking opportunities for new work and cross-selling
- Working as part of a team and in daily interaction with the partners and taking an active part in sharing knowledge and experience by managing junior lawyers
- Participating in global and local CSR projects and initiatives
Our Jersey office comprises a strong mix of newly qualified, mid-level and highly experienced lawyers and partners. The successful candidate would be joining a team of five Partners, one Of Counsel, nine associates and two trainees and will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on various matters across the team.
EXPERIENCE
What You Bring
Applicants should have highly relevant experience in general corporate or finance matters and be looking for a long-term career with the Maples Group. Candidates must have 2 - 4 years' relevant post qualification experience. Both experience and training should have been completed with a leading law firm in a major onshore or offshore jurisdiction. Outstanding academics are a must.
This post requires significant attention to detail, professionalism, ability to multi-task, and excellent organisational, prioritisation and communications skills. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to adhere to internal policies and procedures.
