About the Role

Maples Corporate Services is seeking a seasoned and forwardthinking Financial Controller to lead the finance function for its Cayman Islands and BVI Corporate Services entities. This senior, handson role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, overseeing finance operations, and maintaining full regulatory and statutory compliance. The Financial Controller will manage financial control processes, prepare management accounts, report monthly financial results and qualitative analysis to the Boards, lead budgeting and forecasting, oversee audits and billing cycles, strengthen internal controls, and manage treasury activities. The role includes managing junior accounting staff and working closely with senior management and Group Finance.

Financial Control & Accounting Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations including business and regulatory accounts payables, transaction posting, general ledger, management accounting, reporting, bank reconciliations and budgeting
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of trial balances and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal controls standards, including segregation of duties
  • Manage the monthend close process and deliver timely financial results

Management Reporting and KPIs

  • Provide insights on revenue, costs, profitability, lock-up, and key performance drivers
  • Prepare and report monthly management accounts and financial analysis to the Regional Director of Finance and Boards
  • Present financials and analysis to the Boards on a monthly and quarterly basis, including analysis on profitability, lockup management and identifying areas of concern for the business/jurisdiction
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
  • Liaise with business leaders to prepare the group budget in accordance with the timetable
  • Moderate the budget review and approval process

Treasury, Cash Flow, and Liquidity

  • Monitor daily cash balances and ensure regulatory liquidity requirements are adhered to
  • Oversee intercompany settlements and shortterm investments
  • Produce cash flow forecasts and support distribution planning

Regulatory, Audit, and Compliance

  • Ensure IFRS compliance and timely completion of government filings
  • Lead external and internal audits and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Strengthen internal controls and mitigate financial and operational risks

Billing, Working Capital, and Revenue Cycle

  • Oversee billing accuracy and process efficiency
  • Monitor WIP, AR, lockup, and identify improvement opportunities

Strategic Initiatives & Transformation

  • Support financial process improvements and transformation initiatives
  • Prepare financial analysis and presentations for senior leadership
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency
  • Train and mentor team members to maintain high performance standards

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff
  • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

EXPERIENCE

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following: 

  • Qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, or ACCA) with at least 8 years post-qualification experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and minimum 10 years in financial services management, with a strong preference for corporate services financial management experience
  • Strong technical expertise in IFRS, management accounting, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills, including handling large data sets
  • Ability to work under pressure and build effective relationships across the business
