Human Resources Generalist
Description
The Human Resource Generalist will support the HR Team with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including benefits and leave administration, reviewing and processing payroll actions, maintaining employee personnel records, enforcing company policies and practices, and may also include providing additional recruitment support. This is a full-time position is based out of our Corporate location in Bethesda, MD on a hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in-office per week), reporting to the Director of Human Resources.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include required training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure and certifications.
- Initiates and acquires background checks and conducts employee eligibility verifications.
- Supports new hire onboarding process and employee recognition programs as needed.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave administration; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and employee engagement; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, and referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance with recommended best practices.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Provide recruiting support in the hiring of qualified applicants for open positions as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Hybrid work schedule: 2-3 days in the Bethesda, MD Corporate office

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least 3-5 years of progressive human resource management experience
- 1-2+ years prior experience in a government contracting environment
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
