Job Description

Title:Talent Acquisition Coordinator


Location: Making Waves Academy Richmond

Reports to: Managing Director of Talent

Status: Full-time, Exempt, Year-Round

Supervises: No direct reports


Position Summary

The Talent Coordinator role is an extraordinary opportunity for a former educator and/or professional with planning, communication, coordination, and event management experience to work closely with high performing, results-oriented teams and senior leaders and to get involved in innovative talent acquisition.  Build relationships with key stakeholders that will enhance the culture.  This person is passionate about educational equity and believes in helping the children we serve to learn, graduate college, and contribute to revitalizing our communities.


Primary Responsibilities


Coordination and Support

  1. Responsible for posting jobs on various job boards, the ATS and ongoing management of designated candidate pools.
  2. Communicate with candidates and interviewers ensuring proper arrangements are made for on-site interviews, including travel arrangements for out of town candidates
  3. Oversee all logistics throughput the interview process, including interview packet preparation, room reservations, set up and greeting of candidate
  4. Coordinate college visits and other community events to promote MWAs recruitment initiative in collaboration with internal and college partners to develop and sustain a teacher and principal pipeline that represent diversity and high caliber.
  5. Able to work with multiple stakeholders calendars to efficiently schedule interviews and other meetings
  6. Coordinate, collect, and maintain data related to , development and other staff surveys
  7. Support hiring managers in understanding MWAS talent acquisition services, policies and guidelines

Event Support and Project Management

  1. Manage multiple projects, exhibiting a high degree of self-motivation and a sense of urgency. Committing to excellent work and reaching personal and departmental goals;
  2. Develop aggressive sourcing methods to find the best diverse talent by leveraging multiple channels, including but not limited to: direct sourcing, internet recruiting , social media, advertising, job and industry career fairs, university recruiting, and competitor contacts. Assist and support recruiting team with Open Houses and Career/Job Fair preparation.
  3. Develops and maintains extensive and effective networks with professional and community organizations to ensure a continuous flow of candidates.

Administration, Reporting & Analysis

  1. Support management team with ATS trainings and user support
  2. Complete weekly metrics reporting in collaboration with the MDD Director of Talent Acquisition and Associate Director of Talent
  3. Complete other assignments per your manager or designee.

  • Participate in the school community – attending school competitions, performances, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.



  • Assists with other duties as assigned including but not limited to pre-screening applicants, receptionist duties, assisting applicants, job fairs, monitoring logs, projects, volunteering.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary, and sit for long periods of time.



Some travel required for MWA related events, such as workshops or conferences.







  • Experience working in a high performing academic setting with students and families from historically underserved communities
  • Working in an environment where marketing, communications, technology and social media are frequently used

  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Google Sheets
  • An interest in planning and executing small and large-scale meetings and events

  • Humility, strong work ethic, and “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience, providing a high level of customer care

  • Bachelor’s Degree



  • Must be able to work occasional Saturdays and evenings
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required
