Description

Medical Associates is seeking a college student to temporarily support out Medical Records team! This person will assist with requests for paper or digital medical record information to be transferred into our system or to other medical facilities.
 
Schedule: 10-15 hours per week Mon-Fri between 7:30am and 5pm, depending on school schedule.
 
Essential Functions
  • Scan and/or import personal health information (PHI) into electronic medical record, assigning appropriate indices to the scanned image per general guidelines, in accordance with time frames and deadlines.  Scan and/or import personal health information (PHI) into electronic medical record, assigning appropriate indices to the scanned image per general guidelines, in accordance with time frames and deadlines.
  • Appropriately access, analyze and perform quality checks on pertinent PHI to ensure accuracy. Identify any discrepancies and address recognized errors. Seek resolution to other issues as they arise.
  • Assist clinical / non-clinical areas, satellite locations and patients regarding various issues. Research / problem solve by effectively demonstrating in-depth knowledge of numerous software applications.
  • Perform a wide variety of departmental tasks, special projects and all other assigned duties
  • Accurately locate, retrieve, send and re-file paper medical records using record tracking system and color-coded / terminal digit system. Implement features of retention / destruction of patient information per Clinic guidelines
Requirements:
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle working with confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Flexible hours with the capacity to work 10-15 hours per week
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.


Physical Aspects:

Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.

Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.

Repetitive Motions - Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Environmental Conditions:
None - The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
