We are looking to assist talented individuals with tuition expenses, along with the ability to join our team of highly skilled surgical techs upon completion of your surg tech program!

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in the Surgical Technologist program at Kirkwood, Southwest Tech, or EICC
  • In good standing with attendance, coursework, and overall performance
What the scholarship reimbursement includes:
  • Fully funded tuition for current Surgical Technologist students at Kirkwood, Southwest Tech, or EICC
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification due within 6 months of program completion

Scholarship Details:
  • Fully funded tuition for the Surg Tech program (valued up to $17,000!) at Kirkwood, SW Tech, or EICC program. This is available to current students, incoming students, or students about to graduate!
  • National certification exam fee paid after completion of the program, through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) – certification due within 6 months of program completion.
  • Students must maintain an overall good standing with the school (attendance, behaviors, etc.).
  • Scholarship recipient shall be hired and begin work in a full-time position at Medical Associates upon successful completion of the program.
  • Medical Associates will cover the cost of tuition, books, and exam fees not covered by other federal, state, institutional and private awards including Federal Pell Grant and Last Dollar Scholar. In other words, we will cover the remaining fees after all other federal, state, and private funding has been applied. (Note: Currently the Iowa Last Dollar Scholar program is available for the EICC component of this coursework and Iowa residents should apply.)

Employment Details Upon Completion of Program:
  • Scholarship recipient agrees to work full-time (36-40 hours/week) for Medical Associates upon graduation for a minimum of 3 years.

Eligibility Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED or higher.

Interpersonal Skills
: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.

Other Skills: Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment.


Physical Aspects:

Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.

Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds force constantly to move objects.
