We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to fill the role of Purchasing/Inventory Manager. This hybrid position combines responsibilities related to procurement and inventory management to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of our supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in both purchasing and inventory control.

This role will be based in Chicago, IL and will offer an annual salary of $115k annually!
 
Responsibilities: 
 
  1. Purchasing:
    • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to secure quality goods and services at optimal prices.
    • Identify reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term relationships to ensure a stable supply chain.
    • Evaluate supplier performance regularly and implement improvements where necessary.
    • Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and product availability to make informed purchasing decisions.
  2. Inventory Management:
    • Oversee and maintain accurate inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock.
    • Implement and optimize inventory control procedures to reduce carrying costs and prevent stock outs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and plan inventory levels accordingly.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and address discrepancies promptly.
  3. Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and execute strategies to improve overall supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and responsiveness.
    • Analyze data and metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to align purchasing and inventory goals with overall business objectives.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with sales, production, and finance teams to understand their requirements and align procurement and inventory strategies accordingly.
    • Communicate effectively with suppliers to convey expectations, negotiate terms, and resolve any issues that may arise.
    • Provide regular updates to leadership on purchasing and inventory performance, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
  5. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies in all procurement and inventory activities.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to supply chain disruptions, pricing fluctuations, and other external factors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in both purchasing and inventory management roles.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in supply chain management.
