Staff Accountant
Description
Mac Properties is a dynamic and growing private residential real estate company with operations in the metropolitan areas of Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, and New Jersey.
Overall Responsibility:
The Staff Accountant – Properties is a team member of the centralized accounting department
in the corporate office.
Essential Functions:
Maintain and update accounting records for the assigned areas
Review and approve accounts payable timely
Review and approve tenant refunds timely
Transfer cash receipts and record bad debt recovery entries
Download and distribute bank activities to relevant groups
Work closely with the field team to timely resolve receivable and payable issues
Analyze activity in capital expenditure accounts
Apply for replacement reserve according to loan agreements
Deposit checks
Prepare W-9s
Follow month end closing calendar o
Prepare bank reconciliations
Update balance sheet, income statements and rent roll reports
Update AR and AP aging, unapplied cash, bad debt allowance, fixed assets
register, etc.
Prepare monthly centralized journal entries and supporting schedules for the
assigned accounts
Record journal entries under guidance from senior members on the team
With help from senior members on the team, investigate and resolve issues
through communication with operations, finance teams
Follow quarter end closing calendar
Assist in preparing quarterly financial reports and supplemental schedules
Prepare lender reports, and other required quarterly reports.
Perform year end responsibilities
Prepare required work papers at year end for annual audits and tax filing
Respond to auditor’s questions
Complete ad hoc financial projects as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, major in Accounting
Proficiency in Excel required
Salesforce and Yardi software experience a plus
Problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong work ethic focused on meeting deadlines.
