Position Summary

The incumbent is responsible for leading, developing and executing the MFC’s internal communications strategy. The incumbent should be able to make employee communication concise and interesting. The content and delivery need to be reflective of our culture. The selected leader will serve as the champion of our employee communication efforts with staff at all levels of the organization.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to create and distribute relevant and timely communication to employees through multiple communication channels.
  • Create communication that reflects the MFC culture, is interesting to read, and easily digestible by a diverse employee population.
  • Work closely with Sr. Executive leadership to develop content and ensure that our company messages are clear, concise, and in line with the broader company strategy.
  • Work closely with leadership across MFC to develop best practices for internal communications that will increase staff engagement and sharing of information.
  • Champion the internal communications committee to drive communication throughout the MFC.
  • Lead in the development of effective and cost-effective internal communications solutions using a range of new and existing tools.
  • Partner with all divisions to assist in the composition and distribution of internal messages.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct supervision duties, but accountable for overseeing all unit operations and ensuring they adhere to company policies and procedures.

Position Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or similar degree.
  • 7-10 years of internal communications or related experience.
  • Outstanding composition skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

  • 15+ years of internal communications or related experience.
  • Advanced degree in Journalism or related degree.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment.

Other Requirements of Position

  • Works under general supervision. Employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually report on such problems. More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager.
  • Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies.
  • If an error is made while in this position, it will require some effort to identify the error and can moderately impact the company financially.
  • Frequently communicates with management, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents.
