Lumen Bioscience is seeking a skilled Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist who possesses a combination of skills in both accounts payable and payroll management to join our finance team. This position will report to the Assistant Controller and will be instrumental in managing and executing day-to-day operations in accounts payable and payroll. Role Description:
  • Accounts Payable Management: You will oversee the review and processing of vendor invoices, ensure compliance with internal controls, issue purchase orders, and manage accounts payable transactions. This includes coding, entering invoices into our accounting system, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies to ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Payroll Processing: Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring accurate and timely wage disbursements. You’ll also maintain detailed payroll records and respond to any payroll-related inquiries, helping to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Financial Recordkeeping: Keep organized and accurate financial records for accounts payable transactions and payroll. You will support monthly account reconciliations and contribute to the month-end close process.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure all operations adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficient Transaction Handling: Manage both accounts payable and payroll systems to ensure smooth and efficient financial operations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure financial operations are transparent and well-coordinated.
  • Process Improvement: Take an active role in the implementation of new financial systems and workflows, and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Educational Background: An Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable and payroll processing.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with accounting software, proficiency in MS Excel, and strong capabilities in other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Personal Attributes: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, high integrity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift or carry items up to 20 kg.

  • $65,000-$75,000 + annual stock bonus
